Brittney Diana: Power Dive into Reading Series was developed by Diane Silvey, a Salish teacher, for First Nations Education Division of the Greater Victoria School District, British Columbia. This reading series is intended to supplement existing pre-reading material. It provides additional reading practice to students who have difficulty in the regular program and are 2-4 years behind in their reading skills. The series will give students a sight and spelling vocabulary of 180 words.

The series teaches students with a limited sight vocabulary of three or four words. The program uses the direct instruction approach and teaches for mastery before starting each Reader. The first 73 basic sight words are introduced and reinforced throughout the program.

The materials are aimed at grade one students or young children who have difficulty beginning to read. This resource uses a direct instruction approach and teaches for mastery before starting each unit. The first 45 basic sight words are introduced and receive reinforcement throughout the three-month program.

UNAVAILABLE This title is no longer available from the publisher First Nations Full Day Kindergarten Video: Primary One Curriculum is a 38 minute video developed by First Nations Education Division of the Greater Victoria School District, British Columbia. Cree educator and storyteller Brenda Andrews effectively uses puppetry to present three Trickster stories for young children. In the video, Andrews introduces the stories by explaining their importance and asking the viewer to listen carefully for the lesson contained in these entertaining legends.

First Nations Technology is part of the First Nations Education Division's Readers 97 Series. This primary level reader introduces students to the technology of the First Nations of Vancouver Island, British Columbia. Illustrated with black and white images, the controlled vocabulary text gives young readers an idea of how the Salish, NuuChahNulth and KwaKwaKa'wakw lived in the past and today. The book covers houses, travel, hunting, fishing, gathering, clothing, and food preparation. The contributions and achievements of the Northwest Coast Nations are highlighted.

Little Bear's Vision Quest is a lavishly illustrated picture book that teaches respect for others. The main character is Little Bear who lives along the Northwest Coast. Little Bear behaves selfishly and is inconsiderate to his friends. In an effort to teach Little Bear proper behavior and respect, his grandfather sends him away to an island. Little Bear is told to "look inside" and learn from his bad behavior. Finally, Little Bear learns how he hurt his friends' feelings and decides to change. His family welcomes Little Bear home.

First Nations Awareness: Putting It All Together is a curriculum resource developed by First Nations Education Division of the Greater Victoria School District for First Nations studies for grades K-7. The resource consists of 10 lessons about the First Nations of the Northwest Coast – Kwakwaka'wakw, Nuu-chah-nulth and Salish. The resource is written in the Cognitive Education method style. This guide allows students to learn about Northwest Coast Peoples and their culture.

Growth of the First Metis Nation and the Role of the Aboriginal Women in the Fur Trade contains 16 lessons at the grade 10 level. First Nations Education Division of the Greater Victoria School Division, British Columbia, developed this resource guide for teachers. The guide explores the development of the Metis people by beginning with the precontact trade system. The next focus is the development of the fur trade and the way marriage customs emerged. Descriptions of Metis cultural identity and lifestyle are presented.

First Nations Young People: Becoming Healthy Leaders for Today and Tomorrow, Part Two: Study Track/Career is a comprehensive package of activities designed for secondary level students. The first part deals with learning, communication, study skills, and test taking skills and includes activities, quotes and ideas for discussion. The second part deals with making the transition to the world of work by taking personal interest and skills inventories, awareness of employer requirements, planning a budget, researching in the job market, and creating a record book for use in job search.

First Nations Young People: Becoming Healthy Leaders For Today and Tomorrow Part One: Balance was developed by First Nations Education Division of the Greater Victoria School District, British Columbia. This school resource was designed to assist families, communities and schools who want to guide their young people in character development so that they become healthy leaders of tomorrow. The philosophy is based on First Nations ideals of balancing healthy mind, body, spirit and emotion.
