Over six chapters Missing and Exploited Indigenous Women and Girls is discussed as follows: Chapter 1: MMIWG is explained and names some of the missing or murdered Indigenous women and girls. This is a national crisis related to racism and discrimination. Chapter 2, A National Inquiry, is about the Government of Canada’s response to this crisis beginning in 2015. Genocide, human rights, and marginalization are reported from this inquiry. Chapter 3 describes the path to this crisis reflecting the historical development of reserves, residential schools, the Sixties Scoop, and a timeline of the MMIWG. Chapter 4, How Did This Happen? describes many factors  that are attributed to this crisis. Chapter 5 responds to the losses and includes the REDress Project. Chapter 6,Moving Into the Future discusses families of the missing Indigenous women and girls and how they are affected by the crisis. The book contains simply written text illustrated with maps, charts, images and photos. Each book has brief sidebars of additional information about a topic as well as suggested framing questions to assist students in critical thinking.
