As a pawn within the dominant culture, Enid excels within the military system and is directed to capture the mysterious Black Ship. The action revolves around her confrontation with this alien object that defies human understanding. The author has constructed the narrative to parallel Native People's contact experiences with European society. William's novel is an exciting adventure into the science fiction genre.
