Whether it is Ellen Gabriel during the Oka crisis or Shirley Bear's artistic creations, these women show determination and spirit as they defend their culture?s sovereignty. Christine Welsh travelled to Quebec, the Queen Charlotte Islands, New Brunswick and the largest urban centre in Ontario to document the work of these women.
