A dream foretells the arrival of a strange man in her village. When the Scottish fur trader arrives in her village, Ikwe believes her life is destined. She marries the trader believing the union will prove beneficial to her village. But the isolation and her husband's lack of understanding prove to make life lonely and difficult for Ikwe.
