Creation Story - Mohawk Language is a 34-minute video tape produced by the Jake Thomas Learning Centre. Chief Jacob Thomas tells the story of Creation in Mohawk. Using several key images as a guide, Chief Thomas recounts the narrative from the beginning in Skyworld, the creation of the world on Turtle's back, the birth of the twins, the creation of the animals and plants, the growth of corn, beans and squash from our mother's body, the battle between the brothers, to the Creator rules the morning. Artist Ivan Kocsis under the direction of Chief Thomas created the colour images. The story is told entirely in Mohawk and is recommended for Mohawk Immersion students. |
