Cedar Child Hear the Teachings is a literacy and Ojibwe language book and CD published by Ningwakwe Learning Press. This 33-page literacy reader was written by James Bay Cree teacher and interpreter Annie Ashamock. The book discusses her life experiences and traditional teachings that have guided her life. Told in easy-to-read 1 or 2-page spreads, the text provides accessible chapter headings such as Grandfather's teachings, getting attention, bedtime stories, relations and relationships, nothing was wasted, school days, moving home, a new life, learning to grieve, Chakapesh and the Moon, and finding our own way. Each chapter has a colour graphic image to assist understanding. The book is accompanied by a CD with Ojibwe narration of the English text. Ojibwe language translator is Orien Corbiere. The book is written to comply with Ontario LBS Level 3 reading.
