Book Description |
| Native Art Colouring Book 2002 contains 38 pages of images by Kashechewan Cree artist and educator, Elijah T. Wesley. Despite being termed a colouring book, this set of classic Woodland style art by a First Nations artist should appeal to teachers and students who are studying First Nations art. The illustrations include the various animals, fish and birds typically found in the James Bay area. Birds such as loons, eagles, and water fowl are portrayed along with clan animals. Each image is outlined in the classic x-ray style found in art from the Woodland School. These images can be appreciated as positive colouring book-style pictures for younger grades; and more importantly, as examples of high quality Woodland art accessible for senior elementary students. This book serves as an inviting introduction to the world of Native art. |
