| Aakaitapitsinniksiists - Siksika Old Stories - Level Two is an illustrated reader that is part of the Siksikai'powahsin Siksika Language Series Level 2 Kit produced by the Siksika Nation of Alberta. The Siksika Board of Education developed this comprehensive learning kit for use in its schools to teach oral language skills in the primary/elementary program. The Kit is authorized as a basic curriculum resource by Alberta Education. This student reader consists of three condensed legends, Napi and the Mice, Napi and the Bullberries, and Napi and the Coyote Eyes. This illustrated Book of Old Stories tells each story in Siksika. The English translation for each story is included. Elder Matthew Many Guns recounts the adventures of Napi, the Blackfoot trickster. Each story contains a lesson or moral that young readers can interpret from the easy to read text. |
