Owidragehya:ht The Tip of the Iceberg Cayuga Immersion consists of eleven 10-minute Cayuga language audiocassettes and two 55-page cerlox bound books developed by Chief Jacob Thomas, Six Nations of the Grand River, Ontario. The package presents common verb roots organized so that the learner can immediately ask a question and respond in Cayuga without having to deal with grammar. Practical vocabulary and phrases make the cassettes and texts useful for the beginner and fluent speaker. The books are organized with one book in English and the other with the corresponding Cayuga that follows the Cayuga language audiocassettes. Contents include simple greetings that are organized in first and second person, words and phrases for family relationships including clans, and verb roots such as to eat, to care for and to go away. Possessive case, incorporated nouns, commands and indefinite verb roots are covered. This package introduces the complexity of the Cayuga language through a sampling of verb declensions. A recommended package for the individual learner and classroom. |
