The Thanksgiving Address is given to open and close social and religious gatherings in traditional Iroquois communities. The Address varies in length and detail according to each speaker. Chief Jacob Thomas recorded this long version of the speech in 1987. He also prepared the 16-page text in Mohawk with interlinear English translation.
